Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast live from Music Row on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – Leahy was joined in studio by the all-star panelist Crom Carmichael.
Near the end of the second hour, Carmichael differentiated between a Biden versus Trump campaign citing that Biden’s would be one of feelings and Trump’s as policies. He made an important point noting that Trump has brought back manufacturing jobs leading to more jobs and higher pay within the Black and Latino communities without the use of Obama’s “magic wand.”
Leahy: We are joined now by the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael. Good morning Crom
Carmichael: Good morning sir. How are you?
Leahy: Let’s take a look at some of the things that have been going on in the political world kind of related to this. Crom, you called it. Michigan tomorrow is Bernie’s last stand. And here is a clip of a rally he held in Detroit over the weekend.

Jesse has been one of the great civil rights leaders in the modern history of this country. He changed American politics with a concept of a rainbow coalition of bringing Blacks, Whites, Latinos together in 1984. In 1988 he has been a leader in helping to transform this country. And an aid to Martin Luther King, Jr. So we are proud.
Leahy: So there is Jesse Jackson endorsing Bernie Sanders at a rally in Michigan. This is new information since last we spoke. There is a poll from a group called the Mitchell Survey taken yesterday in Michigan showing Joe Biden with a 20 point lead in Michigan over Bernie Sanders. I’ve never heard of that group. But there it is.
Carmichael: Well, we’ll know Wednesday about the viability of the contest. If Bernie’s beaten in Michigan by more than say, six.
Leahy: Yes.
Carmichael: If he’s beaten by more than six in Michigan and if he were to lose Washington state then even though it’s done proportionately it still does not bode well at all for Bernie’s campaign. Because I don’t see that it goes anywhere.
Now, what this also says is that the democrat party itself is only about 30% socialist. And I should say the ones who show up and vote in the primaries. And I doubt if the people of the democrat party who do not show up and vote, I think the percentage of socialists among the non-voting Democrat group is even smaller.
Leahy: I agree with that entirely because the socialists are highly engaged and motivated. Socialists slash communists. Whatever you want to call them. Let’s just speculate because that’s what we can do here.
Carmichael: It’s what we do.
Leahy: (Soft voice) We speculate. Let’s speculate about this. What if Joe Biden is the nominee and its Biden versus Trump. How tough will that race be for President Trump?
Carmichael: Biden is probably the most difficult of the democrat opponents let us say of the last seven. But Biden also has his own record that will come into play. And then he has his own ability to commit gaffes. I think the debates will matter a lot. My sense of it is is that Biden will try to run as a candidate saying, I’m not going to argue. We need to heal America.
Leahy: I totally agree with that. We’ve already seen him with some of his clips. (Low voice) “I’m a uniter, not a divider.”
Carmichael: That’s essentially what Obama did. But in Obama’s case, he had no record that you could pin on him. Biden, on the other hand, has his own record and he also has a record of being the vice president. Now we in Tennessee will not see a lot of what goes on because Tennessee is not a battleground state.
There’s a lot more that will be going on in the upper Midwest in Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Things will go on in North Carolina and Florida. Those are the battleground states.
And there will be a lot of activity by both parties. I think the Trump campaign will be going after a lot of the Black and Hispanic votes based on the economic record of Trump’s policies and how many Black and Hispanics have been lifted out of poverty and have good jobs that pay well.
And the prospect of even more. And there are lots of audiotapes of Barack Obama saying that the only way you’re going to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US is with a magic wand. He said, he’s on tape, there is no policy that will bring back manufacturing jobs. Well, that’s…
Leahy: Wrong! That’s Biden, too.
Carmichael: That’s Biden, too. So the question is going to be whether or not this is a race that’s run on policy and results or whether or not it’s run on feelings.
Leahy: My guess, feelings from Biden. Policy from Trump.
Carmichael: I’m saying we’ll see which one the population thinks is worthy.

If Biden wins the nomination, then we will have TWO Republican nominees for November: Biden and Trump. They are tweedle-dum and tweedle-dee. A lot of progressives might either boycott the election or urge Sanders to run as an Independent the way Nader did in 2000. Progressives need to take back their party from the the Deep Staters like Biden and Company!
